Ulnar impaction syndrome is also known as ulnar abutment syndrome, and can be a common complication after distal radial fracture. However, this procedure has some disadvantages, such as a long period until union and a relatively high nonunion rate. To overcome these disadvantages, we have developed distal ulnar metaphyseal wedge osteotomy. 2020-12-01 Ulnar abutment syndrome, also known as ulnar impaction syndrome, occurs when the ulna and the radius are not the same length, usually due to an elongated ulna bone. When the ulna is longer than the radius, it creates an uneven joint surface and can possibly lead to a painful wrist.
